*** JUST FOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT ***

MISCONCEPTION : PASHUPATASTRA AND RAUDRASTRA ARE SAME WEAPONS.

Seems like Blorndies have lost faith in their favorite Bengali script based Mahabharat versions like KMG and MN Dutta. Now they are confusing people with FEW incorrect translations which Geeta Press did. Those translations are contradicted by KMG and MN Dutta, but now blordnies are exploiting the mistakes which some translations did and using those as per their own suitability.

Coming to Geeta Press,Its a great translation but it has a few translation mistakes in its Slokas.Blorndies got fooled by a translation mistake by Geeta Press :P This is called lack of research and signs of complete ignorance.

Below are the Slokas of Geeta Press in which they translated that Pashupatastra and Raudrastra are same weapons -

Firstly, let me clarify one thing, these days Blorndies are taunting Arjuna for getting feared from Kalakeyas,LOL,what's wrong if a human gets feared from Demons ? Perhaps getting FEARED is much better than FLEEING from battlefield which the evil lord of blorndies did as a daily routine :P Arjuna never fled from that battle, even being under fear he faced those demons.Seems like blorndies need a list of occasions when their evil lord was struck down with fear. :P :D

Now back to the Slokas of Geeta Press -

। ---- Part 5

Incorrect Translation As Per Geeta Press (I have translated the hindi given by Geeta Press into english)-

Thereupon collecting my energies,i bowed onto that god of gods,Raudra, and saying, 'May welfare attend on all Beings',and saying so I invoked his great weapon Pashupatastra which is also celebrated with the name of Raudrastra and is going to be the slayer of all my foes. That supreme Pashupatastra is known for annihilating all foes.

>>> ISSUE NUMBER 1 -

FIRSTLY....This translation is incorrect..If you read first four parts, those who even understand Hindi can read that these lines don't contain the term Pashupata(पाशुपत).So from where did Geeta Press translate - "I invoked his great weapon Pashupatastra".
Where does 'Pashupatastra' come here ? Those slokas point towards Arjuna using a weapon of Rudra,in all Probability to Raudrastra,as described in KMG,MN Dutta and BORI Critical too.

Now coming to Part 4 and Part 5 of Sloka -

The correct translation of these two should be -

"The great Pashupata given by Rudra propitiated by the whole world is known for annihilating all foes."

Here Raudra means 'Given by Rudra(Shiva)'.Raudra can also mean fearful and frightening, but it certainly does not conclude to Raudrastra.

रौद्र raudra adj. wild
रौद्र raudra adj. impetuous
रौद्र raudra adj. inauspicious
रौद्र raudra adj. violent
रौद्र raudra adj. fierce
रौद्र raudra adj. bringing or betokening misfortune
रौद्र raudra adj. raudra relating or belonging to or coming from rudra or the rudras
रौद्र raudra adj. rudra-like
रौद्र raudra m. descendant of rudra
रौद्र raudra m. winter
रौद्र raudra m. sentiment of wrath or fury
रौद्र raudra m. worshipper of rudra
रौद्र raudra m. sunshine
रौद्र raudra m. class of evil spirits
रौद्र raudra m. warmth
रौद्र raudra m. cold season of the year
रौद्र raudra m.n. heat
रौद्र raudra n. savageness
रौद्र raudra n. fierceness
रौद्र raudra n. formidableness

If you read carefully,it might seem that this sloka about Pashupatastra is unnecessary here.Well, you got it right, this sloka is deliberately added by Geeta Press. Its not in KMG,MN Dutta or even BORI Critical.Read on to know more.

>>> ISSUE NUMBER 2 -

This sloka -

यद तद रौद्रमिती ख्यात सर्वमित्रविनाशनम ।
महत् पाशुपत दिव्य सर्वलोकनमस्कृतम ।।

These Slokas don't exist in KMG or MN Dutta or BORI Critical.

These two slokas in Geeta Press are supplementary, they don't exist in Northern Rencensions.

Please check out the screenshots of these slokas from Geeta Press here - http://bit.ly/1FQNpqI

You can clearly see in the Screenshot that the sloka after 40 and 41 are given in BRACKETS () because they are SUPPLEMENTRY Slokas.Pasupata sloka is in brackets. The Northern Recensions contain 83000 slokas and Geeta Press had to reach 100k Slokas so they added slokas from other recensions too,you can read all this on the author's page of Geeta Press edition.

> THESE SLOKAS DON'T EXIST IN KMG(Favorite Translation of Blorndies) -

CHECK THE CHAPTER LINK OF KMG - http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m03/m03172.htm

You won't find Pashupatastra anywhere in this chapter about Kalakeya Vadh.

> THESE SLOKAS DON'T EXIST IN BORI TOO -

BORI CHAPTER LINK - http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/mbs/mbs03170.htm

Nowhere are these two slokas about Pashupatastra mentioned in BORI.

Even MN Dutta does not have these slokas.

MOREOVER,THESE TWO SLOKAS HAVE ALSO BEEN MISTRANSLATED BY GEETA PRESS.
NOW THE QUESTION IS FROM WHERE DO THESE TWO SLOKAS COME FROM ?

Blorndies without any research posted these slokas which are contradicted even by KMG and MN Dutta, their favorite translations. This shows their ignorance, and how these people are bent on making everyone fool.

But don't worry friends,we post everything with proper research,by referring several versions so that we don't get fooled by incorrect translations like Blorndies got fooled here by incorrect translation in Geeta Press and then they misguided their fans :P

GEETA PRESS HAS ADDED THESE SLOKAS FROM DAKSHINATYA OR THE SOUTHERN RECENSIONS,THE SLOKAS ARE CORRECT BUT GEETA PRESS MISTRANSLATED THESE SLOKAS,PERHAPS BY MISTAKE.

THESE SLOKAS CAN BE FOUND IN VANA PARVA,CHAPTER 175 OF DAKSHINATYA - http://sanskritdocuments.org/mirrors/mahabharata/mbhK/mahabharata-k-03-sa.html

Along with the fight description,Arjuna was also describing Yudhisthir the weapons which he obtained from Indra and Lord Shiva.Geeta Press added the Pashupatastra descrpition in the fight and mistranslated it too so it caused the confusion.

Moreover,in the Same Dakshinatya we can read that Raudrastra has been identified separately,In the Sloka 65 of that chapter we can read it

तथा रौद्रास्त्रनिष्पिष्टान्दिव्याभरणभूषितान्।
निशाम्य परमं हर्षमगमद्देवसारथिः ॥ 3-175-65 \\

"The Raudra Weapon is amazing and when released parches the nerves"

Now even the hindi readers can interpret रौद्रास्त्र (Raudrastra)

And Off-course Pashupatastra is separately identified in Sloka 50 of Dakshinatya,So it again proves that Raudrastra and Pashupatastra are different.

यत्तद्रौद्रमिति ख्यातं सर्वामित्रविनाशनम्।
`महत्पाशुपतं दिव्यं सर्वलोकनमस्कृतम्' ॥ 3-175-50

"The great Pashupata given by Rudra propitiated by the whole world is known for annihilating all foes."

SO NOW....

- THE VALMIKI RAMAYANA CONCURS WITH THE FACT THAT RAUDRASTRA AND PASHUPATASTRA ARE DIFFERENT(DESCRIBED IN EARLIER POST).

- DAKSHINATYA MAHABHARAT ALSO CONCURS WITH THE FACT THAT RAUDRASTRA AND PASHUPATASTRA ARE DIFFERENT.(SLOKA GIVEN ABOVE)

- NORTHERN RECENSIONS(KMG/BORI/DUTTA) ALSO AGREES WITH THE FACT THAT RAUDRASTRA AND PASHUPATASTRA ARE DIFFERENT.(PROOF BELOW)

Pashupatastra description -

Possessed of one foot, of large teeth, and a thousand heads and thousand Stomachs, it has a thousand arms, a thousand tongues, and a thousand eyes. Indeed, it seemed to continually vomit fire.

http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m13/m13a014.htm

1000 Heads,1000 Stomachs,1000 tongues,1000 arms and 1000 eyes, Okay.

Now Raudrastra description(From Kalakeya Yudh) -

I fixed that mighty weapon which, celebrated under the name of Raudra, is the destroyer of all foes. Then I beheld a male person having three heads, nine eyes, three faces, and six arms. And his hair was flaming like fire or the sun. And, O slayer of foes, for his dress, he had mighty serpents, putting out their tongues. And saying, O best of the Bharatas, the dreadful and eternal Raudra, I being free from fear, set it on the Gandiva;

http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m03/m03172.htm

Only 3 Heads,9 eyes,6 arms,3 faces ? :O

Now Where did the Raudrastra which Geeta Press is calling as Pashupatastra lost its remaining heads? Where does the remaining eyes go? Where does the remaining arms go? Where does the remaining faces go :P

WHAT'S MORE FUNNY IS GEETA PRESS TOO HAS BOTH THESE DESCRIPTIONS BUT AT THE SAME TIME,GEETA PRESS IS ALSO SAYING THAT PASHUPATASTRA AND RAUDRASTRA ARE SAME,SO BASICALLY GEETA PRESS IS CONTRADICTING ITSELF HERE :P

FROM THE ABOVE TWO NARRATIVES,ITS CLEAR THAT RAUDRASTRA WAS AN EXPANSION OF PASHUPATASTRA.THE PASHUPATASTRA WAS ATLEAST 100 TIMES MORE POWERFUL THAN THE RAUDRASTRA.

ONE SHOT OF RAUDRASTRA DESTROYED THE ENTIRE HIRANYAPURA CITY SO YOU CAN IMAGINE THE POWER OF PASHUPATASTRA WHICH WAS MUCH MORE POWERFUL THAN RAUDRASTRA.

JUST FOR INFORMATION : PASHUPATASTRA IS USED BY MAHADEVA FOR BRINGING PRALAYA(COMPLETE DESTRUCTION) DURING THE END OF A YUGA -

"And there was a shaft whose splendour looked like that of the sun or of the fire that appears at the #end #of #the #Yuga......That weapon, shot by Mahadeva's arms, can, without doubt consume in half the time taken up by a twinkling of the eyes the entire universe with all its mobile and immobile creatures."

http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m13/m13a014.htm

I have no words for fools who say that Pashupatastra is an ordinary weapon.

PASHUPTASTRA,THE PERSONAL WEAPON OF LORD SHIVA WAS THE MOST POWERFUL ASTRA OF UNIVERSE,SECOND ONLY TO HIS TRIDENT -

PROOF:

O thou of mighty arms, that weapon is superior to the Brahma, the Narayana, the Aindra, the Agneya, and the Varuna weapons. Verily, it is capable of neutralising every other weapon in the universe.....There is another mysterious and very powerful weapon which is equal or perhaps, superior to the Pasupata weapon. I beheld that also. It is celebrated in all the worlds as the Sum of the Sula-armed Mahadeva.

http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/m13/m13a014.htm

THE SULA OR THE TRIDENT WAS THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON AND PASHUPATASTRA WAS THE SECOND MOST POWERFUL.

**************** I HOPE THE CONFUSION OF PASHUPATASTRA AND RAUDRASTRA IS NOW CLEAR :) ***********************

HAR HAR MAHADEVA :)

SINCE GEETA PRESS IS THE NEW LOVE INTREST OF BLORNDIES ....  A GIFT FROM GEETA PRESS COMING SOON ;) STAY TUNED :P
